Class Presentations:

Find an article in any of journals listed in the Public Health section of the OhioLink Electronic Journal Center for statistical applications and present the research objective and results of the research. You can use PowerPoint or MS-Word or any other type of presentation methods. Click on Electronic Journal Center in the OhioLink homepage and use keyword to search for your article. You need your student ID (or library ID) from your university to access this link. American Journal Preventive Medicine, American Journal of Epidemiology, and many other public health related journals can be found in the Public Health section under Health Sciences and Medicine. You need to provide the reference about the journal article for the class.

Topics for presentations:

Find a study that uses a nonparametric method and review it thoroughly.  Present the study to the class, explaining how the method was used in the study and what seemed to be rationale for using the method.  Also comment on any aspects of the study that are worthy of discussion.

Find a study that includes a simple categorical data analysis covered in our class and review it thoroughly.  Explain how the study was designed (or source of data) and how the method was applied.  You may check an analytical result if it is possible to do so based on the data reported in the study.  Also comment on any aspects of the study that are worthy of discussion.

Find a study that uses a one-way analysis of variance and review it thoroughly.  Present the study to the class, explaining the study design and how the method was used.  Comment on any aspects of the study that are worthy of discussion.

Find a study that uses an ordinary regression analysis and review it thoroughly.  Explain the study design (or source of data) and how the method was used.  You may check the analytic results if it is possible to do so based on the data reported in the study.  Also comment on any aspects of the study that are worthy of discussion.

Find a study that uses a logistic regression analysis and review it thoroughly.  Explain the study design (or source of data) and how the method was used.  Try to explain how variables are measured, how the descriptive statistics and test results were obtained, and what the analytical result may mean, even though the detailed information is not given in the paper.  Also comment on any aspects of the study that are worthy of discussion.
