Week 6 (2/16 to 2/22)

The focus of this week is on Chapter 5: Discrete Probability Distributions . The goals are to learn some basic concepts in probability modeling for discrete variables, and the use of the model for problem solving and decision making.  In this chapter, you will learn the concepts of mean and variance of a discrete distribution, and how to find the mathematical expectation of a random experiment. You will also learn  how to use mathematics to model the probability distribution, and how to use a model to solve probability problems. .


To Do List:

1. Read all the sections in chapter 5.

2. Download lecture notes and view recorded lecture for chapter 5 (V.19 through V. 23). (The lecture notes are on the right next to video links in the lecture video web page.)  Videos V.24 and V.25 are also helpful for reviewing the materials that you have learned.

3. Try the review exercise problems from all sections for chapter 5 and try the Chapter Quiz in the textbook.
