The focus of this week is on Chapter 3: Data Description. The goals are to review and learn some basic techniques for organizing and summarizing univariate data. In this chapter, you will learn some important basic descriptive measures such as mean, standard deviation, variance, median, range, quartiles, inter-quartile range, percentiles, z-score, and making boxplot for displaying distribution and identifying outliers. This week’s topics are in sections 1, 2, 3, 4 and you will learn basic descriptive measures such as mean, standard deviation, variance, median, and range.To Do List:1. Read all the sections in chapter 3, sections 1, 2, 3, and 4.2. Download lecture notes and view recorded lecture for chapter 3 (V.6 and V.7). (The lecture notes are on the right next to video links in the lecture video web page.)3. Try the review exercise problems and Chapter Quiz for chapter 3 in the textbook.4. Start trying to SPSS to make graphs. Use the text and video instructions in SPSS References page to learn the basic SPSS functions.
